1. Who We Are

Sikhi4All (sikhi4all.com) is a free educational website about Sikhism. For the purposes of UK and EU data protection law, the data controller is Sikhi4All. You can contact us at hello@sikhi4all.com.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect minimal data. The only data processing on this site is through Google Analytics 4 (GA4), which may collect:

• Anonymised IP address (your full IP is never stored)
• Browser type, operating system, and device type
• Pages visited, time spent on the site, and session data
• Referring URL (how you arrived at the site)
• General geographic location (country and city level only)

We do not collect names, email addresses, or any directly identifying information through analytics. We do not run advertising or sell data to third parties.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): When you accept cookies, GA4 operates with full analytics cookies enabled.
• Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): When you decline or have not yet responded, GA4 operates in cookieless mode (no cookies set, IP anonymised) to help us understand basic site usage. We have balanced this against your privacy interests and consider the privacy impact to be minimal given the anonymisation applied.

4. How We Use the Data

Analytics data is used solely to understand how visitors use Sikhi4All — for example, which pages are most popular, how long people engage with quizzes, and what devices they use. This helps us improve the site. We do not use the data for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making.

5. Cookies

We use analytics cookies only when you have given consent. For full details of the cookies used, see our Cookie Policy. Your consent preference is stored in your browser's local storage (not as a cookie) under the key s4a_consent.

6. Data Sharing

Analytics data is processed by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) as a data processor under Google's terms. Google may transfer data to servers outside the UK/EEA; these transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses and Google's adequacy commitments. We do not share data with any other third party.

7. Data Retention

GA4 retains analytics data for 14 months by default (Google's standard retention period). After this period, the data is automatically deleted from Google's servers. Anonymised/aggregated data may be retained longer for statistical purposes.

8. Your Rights

Under UK and EU GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the data held about you
• Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restriction: Request that we restrict processing of your data
• Portability: Receive your data in a portable format
• Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Withdraw consent: Withdraw analytics consent at any time by declining cookies (your s4a_consent value in localStorage)

9. Children's Privacy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice.
